I could save my media to libraries and plex would download appropriate metadata for each library. I had FreeNAS 11.2 installed with a standard version of plex media server it did not have plexpass or any of the garbage that installs with it, Once you complete the steps, you can start streaming the media you added using Plex. This might be a little long and may be asked before, this is my first post here so please forgive me. In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to install and set up the Plex Media Server plugin on FreeNAS version 11.2 or higher. You can think of this client-server solution as your private version of Netflix.Īlthough you can set up a standalone Plex server, if you already have a FreeNAS server to share files in the network, you can simply set up a plugin to convert the file server into a media streaming service for your home.
